Pat Mullen will be at the Sudbury Senior to facilitate; Pearl Harbor, “The Rest of the Story” on Tuesdays at 9:30 AM, October 4, 11, 18. We all know what happened on December 7, 1941, but do you truly understand the real Why & How? The Japanese successful attack on Pearl Harbor resulted from a vast combination of interrelated, complicated, and strange historical and cultural factors: on one hand, bountiful human errors of a great variety, false assumptions, fallacious views and a vast store of intelligence badly handled; on the other hand, precise planning, tireless training, fanatical dedication, determination, tactical excellence, guts and uncommon luck. In the first of three sessions we will examine the actions and events that contributed to these factors. In the second session we will view the Film “Tora, Tora, Tora” and see how all these played out.
The third session will review the findings of the five major Pearl Harbor investigations which looked for someone or something to blame for what happened on December 7. These investigations began on December 22, 1941 and ended with the Joint congressional committee on July 15, 1946.
